PREFACE

The first International Congress on Energy and Industrial Process Engineering was organized by the Laboratory of Matter’s valorization and recycling for sustainable development (VRMDD), University of Sciences and Technology Houari Boumediene (USTHB). This new laboratory, which will open in April 2021, is the result of a new dynamic created in response to the emerging challenges of sustainable development, and is organized around a human potential specialized in Process Engineering. This human component is strongly committed to the conduct of new research areas centred on sustainable development. The research themes adopted in this laboratory focus on the development of innovative treatment processes and the valorisation of ores, industrial by-products and biomass. The strength of this team lies in the experience acquired by its researchers in the eld of design, implementation and optimisation of various processes as well as the modelling of transfer phenomena. In the perspective of establishing new partnership relations with the economic sector, national and international scientists, the members of this laboratory Congress on Energies and Industrial Process Engineering (Cegpi22), from May 23 to 25, 2022 at the Mercure Hotel in Algiers. The congress provided a real opportunity for researchers and industry to establish partnerships in the field of Industrial Process Engineering, by building relationships between industrial actors and academic researchers. Cegpi22 participants had the opportunity to attend a series of conferences presented by internationally prestigious European and national lecturers. Thirty-three articles, carefully selected by the scientific committee and accepted for publication by the reviewers, were published in Deswater journal. CEGPI'22 received over seven hundred (700) abstracts from various national and foreign universities and research centers. After a thorough review by the scientific committee, a total of 70 oral presentations and 274 posters were selected.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

We would like to express our sincere thanks and gratitude to all the members of the scientic committee for their availability, their commitment to the work of reading and correcting the articles submitted for publication, without which this event would not have been possible. Our deepest thanks are expressed to all our speakers for having accepted to lead and share their expertise for the benet of our participants. We would also like to thank all the applicants who showed interest in this scientic event. We apologise to those who were not selected for this rst edition and we hope to welcome them in the next ones. The holding of this event would not have been possible without the involvement and generosity of our sponsors, to whom we are particularly grateful.
